GPS Coordinates and other Exif stuff
      #780916 - 06/04/2009 11:38

Hi all,

I'm quite a heavy user of Microsoft's Windows Photo Gallery. I find it's navigation through my several thousand photos to be quick and easy, particularly if I've tagged my photos correctly! However, it's not without it's short comings.

I also use Windows Photo Info which allows various extra bits of info to be added and seen. This includes comments/description which Photo Gallery does not.

Photo Info does not cater for GPS coordinates though (which at the moment I have to manually input as my camera does not have any GPS equipment). Where photos have GPS data within the Exif information, does anyone know if this is standard from one program to another. I.E. If program 'x' inputs/edits GPS info, can program 'y' read it?

Maybe I'm asking a lot, but I'm looking for a program with navigation as easy as Photo Gallery, the ability to input/edit the comments field and also edit and display GPS data. Does anyone have any idea if one exists?

Many thanks for any help!

Regards,

Matt.

GPS info is in a standard place in the EXIF data. I don't know of any program with navigation like Photo Gallery that allows you to edit the GPS data. It is normally read like the camera settings - read only.

I use exiftool, often with the exiftool gui addon, to edit EXIF data.
