Given the cost of manufacturers own inks then frequent A3 printing on my Epson 2400 was becoming intolerable. Research across the available inkflow systems led me eventually to the Lyson system. Initial set up is easy albeit tedious and the instruction sheets do need to be followed exactly. Once installed it pays to experiment using the supplied pack of paper. Getting used to using profiles (supplied on disc) is a further learning curve if you have only used the manufacturers own papers. Cartridge switchover when printing monochrome is simplicity itself, the extra black cartridge being velcroed on top of the working cartridge pack. However the effort expended in set up and experment is worth it. The quality of prints in both colour and monochrome is excellent and easily good enough for competition and weddings.
Good points: > Savings of approximately 60% per print > Quality of print > Ease of re-filling reservoirs
Bad Points: > Initial cost of approximately £200 seems steep (in reality it is only just over the cost of two full sets of cartridges) > Set up is 'finicky' > The small rubber wedges that support the printer lid are not quite tall enough and need a boost.
Overall - excellent quality and value.
