I normally use CS3 but my computer is down at present and I am using a loan machine. I have access to Elements 5.
I am used to the perspective correction option in CS3 used in connection with the crop tool, but this is not available in Elements 5. In its place is a useful Remove Camera Distortion tool, but it appears grayed out when I edit scanned B&W negatives. Any clues as to how to activate this tool in that circumstance?

At a guess you are trying to edit 16 bit grey scale, have you changed to mode to 8 bit RGB, that usually opens up all the tools.

Thanks Keith. It's certainly true that many tools are not available with a 16 bit image, but, sadly, this one won't work with an 8 bit one either.
I have also tried converting from TIFF to JPG, but no joy to date.

Just found the answer, it needs to be a RGB image! Where is the logic in that?

Thought it would be along those lines, BTW the filter, distort, lens correction needs a RGB image to work in PS CS3 as well.
