Hi, Happy new year to all. this is my first post.
I bought thes 4gb SD card Extreme iii for my 450 d Cannon. But it seems to lag a lot, as much as my Jessops 2gb card.
I take pictures mostly in clubs in dark conditions. I will get a burst of say 4 continous shots then their is always a delay, camra says busy for at least 10s- 30s before its ready to go again, then it can only shoot one picture before a delay.
Do you think I may have a dud SD X iii card or is this usual?

Did it come from Ebay? Lots of dodgy pirate sandisk cards about.

Jessops (allegedly) write at 9mb/sec and the SanDisk Extreme III 4GB at just over 10mb/sec so there wont actually be much in it.

Shooting in a dark club, using flash , are you sure it is the card causing the delay and not the camera ? Don

Thaks for the reply.
I have also tried the two card indoors with normal light and get the same sort of lag. I do hope it is not the camera but I could not be sure. I will have to do some tests. I will try it lowering the settings, reduce to M (6.3m)
The X III card I have states it is the 30MB/s Edition, however I did order it from AMAZON.

Its still restricted by your cameras write speed, it maxes out at 11mb/sec for jpegs.. read all about it here ,

Thank you for the link. I have had a look, the results are about the average time it takes mine to write a few shots to the card and bearing in mind my conditions are different.
I did notice they had an 'External Identifier' number. My card has one of these, but it differs. Is this usual? Mine has the same amount of digets and also starts with BH.

there is a bit of info on fakes here . The price of the genuine article has come down so much its hardly worth trying to save a few bob (it never was really), just buy from somewhere like 7dayshop. If there is anywhere cheaper the guys on this site normally make everybody aware.

I once had the same problem with a 350D - the cards worked fine with other cameras.

Bettina, do you think that the write speed on the 450D is generally slower then the other cameras' you used? I’m pretty sure my card is an original.
