I remember reading somewhere what features you needed to look for in a weather forecast to be able to predict (hopefully) dawn with mist over water etc. It may have been in AP but I can't find it in any of my past copies. Please can anyone point me in the right direction?
What you need is a high pressure area with very few isobars and no wind. These are the right circumstances to produce low early morning mist. Sadly our 'normal' weather seems to have gone astray. We hope to have an Icelandic low and an Azores high pressure during our summers and this kicks the fronts from the west Atlantic up north and we get some decent weather. This is what we haven't had for the last few years and hence our lousy summers with front after front coming across the UK and a permanent depression over us.
