My New Website
      #717293 - 12/10/2008 23:02

Hi all, just to let you know I have just created my own website and wil be adding photo's to regularly.

The address is: http://www.rthompsonphotography.com

I would appreciate some visitors! Please leave comments. Hope you like. I can recommend the Mr Site software which is currently on offer at £20 from PCWorld (cheaper than ordering online!). Its a little quirky but ok for 12 months of website.

Are the "Amailfi Coast" and "Positano" galleries suppost to be the same?

The watermarks across the images are a pain, especially on the small images, such as the "Anchor on Caldey Island".

The navigation is a bitch when you're viewing an image.

I'd drop the counter, the forum and the guestbook - what's the point of them?

You've got a glaring error in your HTML on the home page.

Please, please, please remove the copyright watermarks - no-one will enjoy the photos with these across them. You will get more traffic to your site and more comments from AP if the images are unadulterated.

I can't seem to get beyond the home page - there's nothing to click on, at least on this machine on IE6.

Speaking as a web designer...

1 - Agree with the others, remove the text all over the photos.

2 - You've got a gallery called "Flora & Fauna" that just has 'Flora' in it. The 'Fauna' is in your 'Animals' gallery!

3 - Make you photos all the same size, that being what you actually want to display them at. Your Lemur photo is displayed at 817x578 but is 900x637. The penguin is even worse, displayed at 385x578, actual size 900x1350. By resizing them to the size you want them to display you'll improve the image quality as well.

4 - Try and make the filesizes smaller. Most of your images would be perfectly okay at 100-110k. That will make the shadowbox script a lot faster. The penguin mentioned in the last point is 253k!

5 - Forum and Guest Book. I'd remove them. Unless they are full of comments and people regularly visiting the forum it makes it look like no one ever visits them.

Oh... the link to the AP site doesn't work

Ah, it appears that there are some buttons on the LHS, just they're invisible in IE6.
