why on earth have the Portsmouth to London line trains half way between Warblington and Emsworth station suddenly decided that they need to honk their horns tonight!!! In fact it's not even a full honk it's more like an embarrassed bleep bleep.
Do you reckon the drivers are bored!!!?

Apparently they're only allowed to give an embarrassed "bleep bleep" because if there's more than three people on the train then they have to pay for a license to go "honk honk"!

Engineering works and they are keeping the sound of the horns down as it's Sunday evening?

A colleague of mine lives near the railway line at Dorking. He was very concerned about the safety of the crossing outside his house and reported it to the rail people. Now every train that passes his house blasts it's horn, morning noon and night. Good deeds eh?
