It isn't criminal to whack the haggis in public so long as you follow the rules.
1) Register yourself as a haggis whacker 2) Travel to the approved wacking ground of the Royal Mile 3) Only whack in season (first three weeks of August)
Whilst the public image of haggis whacking is poor (think several levels lower than fox hunting) it is an ancient Scots tradition, derived from even ancient-er fertility rites. These days it has sadly been overlooked in favour of that other great Scots tradition, getting drunk.
