I've just finished choosing the pics for my first assesment and have (tried!) to post them to my flikr site. I'm quite nervous about the whole assesment process so fingers crossed!

Hi Heather,
Nice set of pictures, you did well to get the shot of the lady. I tried a month or so ago to take that shot whilst on the Royal Mile and she was not keen on anyone photographing her.
Pleased to hear you got the maths sorted out re file sizes it was all getting too much for me.

I was definately lucky to catch the lady while she was being interviewed. She was quite happily posing for photos while the cameras were rolling at least! It's the first time I'd seen her in person, even though she lives in Edinburgh I've only ever seen her on American talk shows up until now!

This may be a daft question, I may have misread module 1 (I am just starting it) but do we not have to do it with our cameras in automatic mode?

Dont think it matters what you have your camera set on. Its all about cropping your photo to bring the best out of it.

Don't think auto is a requirement, cropping and more importantly envisaging the finished crop are the most important things in mod 1.

Hiya
I had a look in the course booklet - it's Mod 2 that has requirements on using the Auto function. For Mod 1 the only requirement is the cropping thing, and the image sizes that apply to all the mods.
That being said I just re-read the requirements and noticed the word limit on the self assessment. Oops

I just got the feedback on my first module submission and I was delighted to see I'd done better than I expected
The feedback is really helpful and has given me lots of pointers on how I can look to improve and develop. I just thought I'd post on here to say to anyone that's not submitted yet that there's nothing to fear and it's a really helpful process
Roll on Mod 2...

Don't know if anyone can help....
I wrote my self assessments in microsoft works is that ok or does it have to be microsoft word?
I sent a message to Elliot but was hoping to send it off today so if anyone knows it would be much appreciated.

I did mine in open office and saved 2 copies on the memory stick - one which claimed to be compatible with word and one which was plain text. I'm not sure which one was used, but I didn't get any messages saying 'don't do that again'

Song long as it's saved in a format most software can read what you do it in is not an issue - rtfs, docs, and txt files seem to work just fine.

Thanks guys for your replies.
I had it on a wps file but managed to install microsoft word and have successfully put it on there just to be sure. Better to be safe than sorry  . It'll be on its way tomorrow.
