Oct08 comp “Ground level” Closed
      #712654 - 01/10/2008 00:18

October – "Ground level"

What's it like down there?

Get down on your belly and see the world from a completely different angle. For this round I don't mind what you shoot, but you have to do it with the camera down at ground level. Of course, you don't have to get down yourself, as you can hold the camera down low and guess the composition without looking through the viewfinder. The idea is to make something that looks shockingly different, so think about scenes you wouldn't normally see from that angle.

PS. If you're new to embedding images in forums and you're having problems, don't forget you have approx. ONE HOUR to try something else - if at the end of that time your still having a problem, contact a moderator.

PPS. If you need help with resizing images etc, then PM a moderator with details of the image manipulation program you're using (if you have one) and they’ll get back to you a.s.a.p. Note: there are free programs you can use in the ‘Posting Images – Maximum Sizes etc’ sticky.

Giant Tortoise, Seychelles [Re: MartyG]
      #713424 - 02/10/2008 19:04

On Curieuse Island in the Seychelles there is a population of Giant Tortoises - they are found on a couple of islands there, and also in the Galapagos but nowhere else in the world. Before I went I knew the type of shot I'd love to get so I took the 15mm fisheye with me.

This one was feeding and not remotely bothered by having a lens close enough for it to lick or by me lying down in front of it to get the shot! Mind you considering I saw a group of Italian tourists putting a child of about 7 on one's back for a photo, this chap probably thought he was getting it easy!

Cheers, Neil
