A slight distraction on a Sunday, I am sure this has been on here at some stage, but just in case - Anyone know anything about this exotic beast, SH starting price $55,000! – I did like the eBay description as to size, which is listed as similar to “a medium sized fridge”.
Just found it on the CanonFD Site – shame it is not in EF mount...

If you look at the Fleabay listing they say that it can be provided with an EF adapter, so no excuses John.

At time of posting the cost is £30,010.37.
And I thought this was expensive.

I can't match that but I think I mounted my 10D on the earlier version of this astro telescope at the OU's observatory via a T mount.

It's used in the space programme. NASA have four of them. They're used here ...
... to keep the doors open when they're rolling out the Space Shuttles.

at that cost you're bettter off just mounting the camera onto a scope. 5200mm focal length sounds a lot when talking lenses, but astro telescoopes achieve those magnifications with a short f/length because it uses an eyepiece to magnify the image from the primary lens, or mirror. (My small spotter scope magnifies 27X, but thats down to a 27x eyepiece. The scope itself has a focal length of about 360mm,(360/50=18x as a camera lens) unsuitable for astronomy though as theres no way to achieve infinity focus with the 3.6mm focal length eyepiece required to get 100x)

Only just noticed that there is actually a camera attached to the end of that thing - it looks like a tiny model!!!

Yeah, that's something special, isn't it.
Where do I get a shoulder bag to fit?
