Red Snapper Tripods
      #712466 - 30/09/2008 18:05

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of the above tripods/heads? Some very brief research looks promising, but I'd value any input people may have.

Thanks

IDB,

Joe (aka: Redsnapper) frequents Talk Photography why not pop over there and do a search? You should be able to find your answer. I've only recently joined in there and it is a very heavy posting site - Heavy as in many, not attitude, although......

I have ordered a new camera bag (SY-618) from them and it is due for delivery today. So far, the service had been excellent but, if I have any problems, I'll let you know.

Aw, don't say I have to put up with you over there too Bawbee! You're right though, the posting rates over there would put Nick and BigWill to shame.

The poting rates over there would put Bagpuss and Kitty van Ghoul to shame!

Mind you, it's slowed down a little now they're back to school...

Well Red Snapper certainly seem to get a good press on Talk Photography, and on that basis I've ordered a 283 tripod and ball head.

I'll let you know how I get on.......

I did notice your thread in the 'Welcome' section but didn't think it appropriate to add

I also noted that Stephen ('Ephemeral') registered today too

Wow! The tripod and head arrived today - superfast delivery. First impressions are very positive and I'd say build quality is up to Manfrotto and Slik 'pods I've previously owned. I'll post a proper review after a few weeks use, but so far it looks great great value for under £100.

Good News IDB,

Please let us know how your gear works out.

The bag I ordered on Tuesday, from Redsnapper, didn't turn up on Wednesday as promised. Now this is probably down to me; when I paid through Paypal, the delivery defaulted to my address in Dundee. I had sent an email to Joe requesting a diversion to Aberdeen. Even though he acknowledged this I thought that it had been delivered to Dundee, but no. It's no big problem and will be sorted when I return to the office next week. I'm also awaiting delivery of a 580EX II + Anglefinder C but these from Ian Kerr (Kerso).

I did have a 'B' version a few years ago and it's probably something you would benefit from with your bugs, etc., Andrew. I'll let you know how it goes - although I envisage using it for low-down landscape shots rather than macro, but you never know.
