Website Redesign
      #711695 - 28/09/2008 10:08

I've been playing around with Gallery2 in order to redesign my website and give me an easier time when uploading images and making changes.

There's still a few niggles I need to iron out, such as the banner graphic lining up properly and a rogue seperator after Login. Any feedback on the design and navigation would be appreciated.

New Website

I think you need some words with the photos to say what's behind them

Some cracking photos there, really stunning.

On the website the images don't seem to be organised into themes and it would be nice to be able to navigate from one set to the next without going back to the home page. Also I agree with Fen that some words would be good.

On the other hand the layout of the site is really clean and professionally presented.

Cheers
Simon

The gallery design is fine, the photos are great. The only comment would be to at least organise and label the folders/galleries by theme.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess I'm not sure what the point of my website is, I'll have a think.

Richard,

For what it's worth, thinking about my comment, this is how I want to view images. My son, on the other hand deliberately removes structure and form from his images and web site.

I suppose it does boil down to what you want of it. If there's a reason for your choice of structure that you are happy with, then stick with it.

I know that for me I've ended up using Flckr more than my own web site just because it has become a sort of photographic journal. The structure is chronological.

We all love to show our images in the best surroundings, and I think for photographers the creative tendency that makes us photographers also drives us to want to publish them in an environment that we have some control over.

Sorry for waffling on, but what I'm trying to say is that I think you are right: the important thing is what you want the web site to do - the images, as has been said are great, it's what want to do with them is the question...
