I have recently bought a mount converter to allow M42 lenses to be used on my A200. However, when I mount the converted lens, I get the message "No lens attached - shutter locked". Does this mean that the converter will not work on my A200, or is there a way around it?

You need to go into the custom menus and find the shutter lock setting (or equivalent on the Alpha), on my Dynax7D the shutter lock has to be 'OFF' for the shutter to be activated when there is either no lens fitted or no 'A' mount lens fitted, such as an Adaptall lens mount.

You can get M42 adapters wih "AF confirm" chips fitted from some Hongkong Ebay shops. As the name sugests these allow the camera to "see" an f1.7 lens fitted so Focus confirm light will show in the view finder when focus is correct, ir also means you do not need to select e shutter lock off, and also the Antishake/SSS is also activated.
The cost of these "chipped" adapters is about £11 plus P&P. Dearer ones are available which allow you to set a different max aperture.

There doesn't appear to be a Custom Menu on the A200, but I have found out, after going through the instruction manual, that you must set the Mode to Manual if the lens doesn't have contacts. You then can set the exposure in the normal way.
Thanks anyway.
