Hi I am hoping someone might be able to offer some advice.
I am thinking about entering some photos in an 'open' category at a local camera club exhibition in the near future that visitors can submit photos to as well.
But, what I would like to know, as I have never done this sort thing before, is the following:-
1) How many different photos do you think it is acceptable to submit?
2) How should the photos be presented? I assume an A4 print would be far more welcome than a 6x4!!
Many thanks in advance for any advice you can give,
Darrell

This should be quite clearly stated on the entry form, if not contact the club's exhibition secretary (if they have one) or other club officer. Normally there is an upper limit to the number of entries you may submit - this may be per class or total - in order to keep numbers to a manageable proportion. Typical entry limitation would be in the region of 2-3 per class or 6-8 in total.

If there are any size requirements again the relevant information should be given on the entry form. Usually there is no specified print size but there is usually a maximum mount size. Another increasingly favoured approach is to require all prints to be mounted on a standard sized mount - typically 50x40cm. Unless otherwise stated prints may be mounted using window mounts (print mounted on the back & visible through a cut window in the mount) or plain mounted on top of the card. Generally hard framed mounts are not acceptable.

Definitely check with the club. As El Sid said, most clubs will allow 50x40. But one club I visited (only the once) suggested people do either 6x4 or 7x5! They're reason was that most people could do this. I'd taken along some 40x50's and it was not welcomed *shakes head*

I'd agree with everything that is said by Fen and El Sid above.
Maximum sizes for most club competitions (that I have come across) usually stipulate a mount no bigger than 50x40cm. An A3 print is a suitable size for this size mount. Thats not to say that an A4 print on a suitably sized mount doesn't have an equal chance. Many prints are also entered at that size.

Thanks for all the replies and help.
It is just a local club and I would like to go along to their exhibition to have a look around and as a show of support especially as one of my photos I am thinking of entering is a local landscape view as well.
Being my own worse critic has both plus and minus points and so photography is very much just a hobby for me as I am sure is the same for many others on this forum, but is does give me great personal pleasure.
Thanks,
Darrell
