Hi all, my first post (of hopefully many) here.
Just a quick question really.
I've got the following:
- Nikon D50 - Nikon 18-55 mm AF-S DX lens - Nikon 50mm 1.8 - Sigma 70-300mm APO DG
Real simple, I'm after a Film SLR (probably the F55 or F75) for the photography course I've just started. Looking to just grab the body right now, will I be able to use any of my DIGITAL lenses on the film camera? I'm edging a guess that I'd be ok with the Nikon lenses but just want to check from someone who KNOWS for defo.
Thanks.

The only one you can use will be your 50mm as the others are designed for a digital sensor small than 35mm film so even though they will fit you body you will suffer bad vignetting

The Sigma 70-300mm APO DG will work also.

Oh sorry, it's the DC lenses that wont work on FF and 35mm, oops.

I would recommend aiming a little higher with the body, and look for an F90x. This or an F100 is probably the best of the affordable AF film bodies. The above is correct in respect of the lenses.

I'd go for an F4 if it was me - had a handle of an F90x once and put it down. The F4 has controls simply to hand (speed dial on top, aperture on lens, iso speed dial etc. plus a sync socket on the front and it takes normal batteries)
Haven't tried an F100 but I guess that would be a good choice as well for lenses without the aperture ring (and of it's anything like the D1x is it should be easy to use)

Yeah, I'd have loved to have gone for the F4 or something a bit better but I'm only really looking to use it to learn the basics of film photography for the course I'm on.
If I get really into the developing side of things then I can always go for something a bit fancier later on when its less of an emergency to my hands on one. And the old student finance has sorted itself out.
Thanks for all the help though. I ordered myself an F75 in the end off the back of a Ken Rockwell review.
