3RD party batteries D80
      #709441 - 21/09/2008 21:07

heya ll, just about to buy a battery grip for my D80 and have been looking at generic batteries instead of paying a fortune for a genuine. have been looking at ones from the back of AP, premier ink supplies, and a few online like battery locator, 7 day shop etc and was just wondering if anyone can reccomend a good place to buy from?

many thanks

Do some haggling for two batteries and grip for a good package price.
If you must buy the batteries somewhere else then 7 day may be ok. I have bought goods from them several times without problems. Allow 4 or 5 days for delivery, and of course all the usual caveats about offshore dealers apply.
I would use them again if they are still competative for what I want.

I have used 7 dayshop's brand battery along side a Nikon in my D80's grip for the last 18 months with no problems.

As Mr Moffat I have used a 7dayshop battery along side a Nikon in a D80 now doing the same with my D300 they last as long as well Not too sure what all the figures on the batt's mean but the 7day one has a higher rating the Nikon is 1500mAh the 7day is 1620mAh

I have had two occasions when my D200 has locked up and only unlocked when the shutter was pressed again. It appears this is when the 3rd party battery has exhausted in my battery grip and the camera tries switching to the other, genuine Nikon battery. The upshot is that I thought I would put the 3rd party battery in my D80 and thus have a pair of Nikon batteries in my D200. The D80 protested and the battery level icon flashed incessantly thus in my experience I will treat 3rd party cells with caution.

Regards, Andrew

I got a couple of Phottix battires for my D300 from ebay. They work a treat and are so much cheaper than the dedicated nikon batterys
