Hi all, I've had an Alpha A100 for 2 years now that i'm very pleased with. I've been eyeing up the A700 for some time now, but it has always been just that bit to expensive!
With the A900 out now, it appears that 700 prices are just nearing what i can afford....lol
So I have a couple of questions,
1. is the 700 hugely better than the 100, 2. is the noise that much better controlled, and if so, what is the highest acceptable iso it's possible to use, 3. would the upgrade to a worthwhile one?
Also, i've been asked to do my first wedding (inevitable really...lol), I've agreed, but am now pooing myself.....lol. Has anyone any advice on this? It's for friends who are strapped for cash, and it's my present to them, so really would like to get it right. Would the A700 be a good thing to have for this aswell?
Many thanks all, sorry this is so long winded.
Paul.

1. Yes - chalk and cheese. 2. Yes, with V4 update, 3200 - of course there will be noise but detail remains and software will minimise noise. I routinely use up to ISO 800 and seldom have need for higher. 3. Yes!
Good luck with the wedding

Agree with everything Roger says. The A100 was my first DSLR and I still have it, but the A700 is in a different class. As Roger say, the V4 firmware is a must.

I have the Dynax7d from Minolta and I find that it is very close in comparison with the A700, I love both cameras.
I think that the A700 is way better than the A100, and would certainly reccomend that you get one and keep the A100 as a second body

I have just purchased an A350 as an upgrade to my A100. That may be a cheaper option. I got mine from here.
For some pictures (only had camera just over a week) see Dawlish Brook in the Appraisal and Seyes posts in the Exhibition section.
I too am doing my first wedding for a relative of my daughter's fiancee next Saturday (same reasons as yours).

Thanks for the advice so far.
Another question springs to mind, with the exception of the A900 (i wish!) is the 700 the best upgrade, or maybe the 300/350?

Depends what you want I suppose, I've been looking at both myself and decided the flip out screen of the 300 would be useful, I didn't need the high frames per sec of the 700 and with the saved £ I could buy abetter lens.

Good point.
Is it fair to say that the image quality of the 700 is superior to that of the 350?

The a700 doesn't have live-view but in all other regards it is the better camera - it's twice the price though

Thanks for the comments so far.
I know it's twice the price, but is it (as i suspect it is) better value?
