Geotate Kato GPS hotshoe attachment
      #708668 - 19/09/2008 13:29

Hi just wanted to know if any readers know which shops/etailers are going to be stocking this product when it gets released.

It was featured earlier this year in AP. I have tried Warehouse Express and they will be stocking a Jobo alternative in the coming weeks, but the Kato looks a little more compact and so my suit my requirements.

AP ran a pre-luanch feature on it a while back as it is due to be launched at Photokina.

Thanks for any help,

Darrell

"Though GPS accessory units for cameras are nothing new, Geotate claims its 'USB GPS logger capture device' offers key advantages over other GPS units in that it frees up picture taking and uses less power."

Hmm. Just like Sony's device that's been around for a couple of years, and just about every other GPS logging device you can get. Sony's does, however, continually record at 15 second intervals, though when you consider that 8 hours' data uses about 800kb of the 31MB storage that's not really an issue and may well offer other benefits.

It'll be interesting to see how effective the add-on for attaching a flash is.
