Write speed with Sandisk Extreme III
      #707242 - 16/09/2008 15:04

I took some shots recently with a Canon 400D utilising the above memory cards and I found that I could not take as many shots as I wanted. The camera would say "busy", I assune that it was writting info to the CF card.

Is there any way of speeding this up?

Better camera body perhaps or would the Sandisk Extreme IV CF card be way to over come this issue?

Many thanks.

At 20MB/s I suspect the delay is with the camera's buffer's capability, rather than the transfer to the card.

There isn't much point in having a card that runs faster than the camera save for future proofing. If you really need to take large numbers quickly you can use lower quality JPEGs.

thanks for that guys,

I agree that there is no point in having a CF card that is faster than the camera can support.

Does anyone know the max speed that the 400D can write at?

This:

EOS350D

only covers the 350D but shows the camera created ceiling.
