Having made up my mind that the above lens was the one for me, I have been completely frustrated in my attempts to find one and spend my hard earned.
Local retail outlets and online shops are all out of stock.
Does anyone know when the UK will be getting re-supplied with this lens?

I haven't looked at this lens but I have bought several Canon lenses recently and there are some retailers (who advertise in AP) who actually have stock while the usual suspects who advertise low prices do not.
Suggest you 'phone around and expect to pay closer to retail price if you want one.

Eventually tracked one down today at London Camera Exchange in Chester. £210 so not too shabby seeing I dont have to wait for delivery
