Need some info on camera kit pls...
      #704911 - 11/09/2008 15:14

Hello All, hope you are well

Brand new to all this, photography and forum help requests. Picked up a D60 yesterday and posted my first thread (Fish Eye..) bout 30 secs ago.

Need a lil more info from you if that's ok?

Brought a tripod off ebay yest. It came today. It wasn't the cheapest by any means, but it certainly is very cheap!!

Soo, I thought before I spend any more dough on essential kit I'm going to need, I'd ask the experts for some pointers.

What I'd like to know is what are the trusted, quality, relied upon brands used in the world of photography for things like bags, tripods, filters, lens etc. so I can hunt them down and not chuck anymore good money away.

If anyone has equipment they are particularly please with and would happy to recommend, I'm all ears (bags, tripod and fish eye lens are my next purchases).

Thanks All, look forward to any responses.

Happy snappin.

Cheers!

Mark.

I use a Manfrotto tripod and Lowe Pro bags. Pretty much "standard issue" photographic kit.

Am sure there will be other that use Gitzo or Benbo tripods and Tamrac or Crumpler bags.

There are plenty other good brands worth considering but the above will hopefully give you an idea of what kind of prices good quality kit cost (not exactly cheap!).

I use Manfrotto Monopod and tripod and Lowepro/crumpler/tamrac bags

Gitzo and Giottos monopods/tripods are also highly regarded. I wouldn't have thought you'd be throwing your money away with any of those brands. I have also heard good things about Redsnapper tripods.

I would recommend getting down to your local retailer and having a proper look and feel. Facts and figures are all very well but if a bag's uncomfortable, a tripod's awkward to use or flimsy, even a "good" brand can be a poor investment.

If you tell us where you are, we might be able to point you in the direction of some good retailers.
