Camera kit storage
      #703996 - 09/09/2008 15:08

I'm looking at how best to store my camera gear. At the moment my lenses and flash gear either sit in the open on shelves or in one of my camera bags. One thought I've had is to get a cabinet of some sort from Ikea or similiar with shallow drawers and use the kind of cut out foam packing you use with Peli cases to cushion the lenses etc.

I'm open to ideas though. Does anyone else have an alternative storage system?

Beware of just using any foam, just in case the out-gassing affects your lens coatings etc. I'd recommend a closed cell foam such as plastazote from Polyformes at Leighton Buzzard.

One link of many

Just a suggestion Barney, you could open a door and place your gear on the floor to keep the door open, place Malcolm's foam against the door to protect the paintwork, what do you think?

Well, it would work if I had any Canons, but seeing as I don't I like to take a little more care of my kit.

Depends on how many lenses you have to store. I have a large aluminium camera/lens case with hard dividers which I use (together with some soft lens bags to stop each lens from rattling against the ones next to it)
