      #703496 - 08/09/2008 12:27

Hello folks, sorry not as high tech as most of you here..have just bought a Mju 850 SW c/w olympus 2gb M+ XD card..the panoramic function will not let me "combine in camera" only combine in PC..am i doing something wrong or missing something...the instruction manual is of no use. If anyone has any advice it would be greatfully received. Many thanks in advance.

Can't be totally sure on this...

But older models used to only do that "in camera" when using an Olympus branded XD card.

And even older ones with an Olympus Smartmedia card. It was software on the card itself that allowed the functionality.

I bought an olympus branded XD card for that very reason.. the camera just won't let me choose the 'in camera option' thought it was maybe something i'm missing or not doing right. Are there any online help sites that could shed any light on it..(Apart from this one obviously!)cheers

My Mju claims the same functionality. I am not sure whether you really can do it in camera, or if the panorama mode (where it gives you markers for how much overlap to do etc) only operates with an Oly card. Either way, I expect my results are better having done the panoramas using proper software, with far more user control.

Do you have to do it in Olympus Master/Studio?

When I open Olympus Master the 'Panorama' option is there but obviously doesn't work as I'm using an E-3 c/w Compact Flash cards. Try loading the files into Olympus Master and see how the Panoramic function operates.

Sorry can't be of more help

Yes, the auto panorama option appears in Master. But then (from memory) I think I used it to stitch some panoramas which I didn't use the panorama function to create - so I still am not sure about the effectiveness of this 'feature.'
