Compact digital with manual features?
      #703293 - 07/09/2008 20:26

I'm looking for a compact digital camera that I will mainly use for point and shoot, but would like some manual options - e.g. shutter priority and aperture priority. I notice the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX500 has these and is available for around £205 (this is about the upper limit of my budget). Not found anything else as an alternative at all (most seem to be EITHER point and shoot or more expensive manual ones). Can anyone recommend anything, or is the FX500 the one to go for? thanks

Depends how small you want the thing to be.... and if you can push the budget a little more...

You can get a canon G7 for £247 from saverstore - I guess that would do everything you want and takes some great pics... (i've got one!)

Alternatively there are a few mint used ones on ebay which will go for about £150 I would guess if you don't mind a lightly used example...

The Ricoh GX100 would have everything you need but it's closer to £300. For something cheaper the Canon A series are pretty good.

Not any more - grab now whilst the dealers are trying to unload them (the replacement model GX200 has been on the market for a couple of months already).
