Pentax Optio V15
      #687182 - 05/08/2008 21:30

Currys are selling these at about £80 'reduced from £189' but I can't find any reference to them outside the Dixon/PC World/Curry chain. Anyone have any information on them, are they a good buy as a basic point and shoot?

Hi Mike,

I am checking with Pentax UK (Intro 2020) and have found:

Optio V10

Optio V20

Here is the Pentax UK/Intro 2020 listing for compact digi's

And, ironically, here is a google search for an Optio V15 ......including your query

I realise the above information is of no value ...but what the heck, eh

Cheers,

Jack

Possibly a version badged just for the Dixons group. Unless I've missed something, a quick look at specs on Curry's site shows it similar to the V10 version without Shake Reduction.

Yes, I think you are right. I have decided against it. Thanks for the comments.

I bought one 10 days ago and have used it on holiday in the last week. It's my 2nd digital camera (apart from phone camera) and is excellent. I'm not a geek, but took a snap instantly without reading the handbook (once I'd charged it up), so it's dead easy with good defaults which you can change as you get familiar with it.
If you re-consider this, check out the SD card and case prices separately. I bought these, but afterwards thought they weren't that good a buy for the extra £30, partly as the case is bigger than the camera, so probably just a cheap one not designed for it.
I bought my previous digital camera from Curry's on this sort of offer 8 years ago, so am hoping this one will last as well!
