Okay, so I solved my RAW converter dilemma by downloading a trial version of Lightroom to my work laptop.
Only problem is, I have done a first pass and flagged most of the best shots. Is there anyway of transferring these shots from my laptop to my desktop and maintaining the flag status?
Or will I always be destined to have to reimport and therefore lose everything? TIA

Although the picture files can be anywhere the Lightroom database has to be on a local drive, or they did on version 1. The flags etc. are stored in the catalogue (database) so it seems that you may need two databases, one on each machine. You can export and import catalogues though, so this might be one way of overcoming the problem.
Why not post a question on the Adobe Lightroom forums?

Now I'm back home, I won't need to use these file son my laptop again. Does that mean I can simply transfer them across?
I'll have a look for a Lightroom forum too.

I think you can export/import both the files and the catalogue but have not done so myself.

Hi, Have a look at File>Export as catalogue. It gives you the option to export either with or without the original image files. Export to a memory card etc, then you can import them on your other PC. I saw a video tutorial somewhere and tried it, but it is some time ago and I can't remember all the details, but I think it was fairly straightforward. John

Thanks all. The files were all saved in two locations so I've just exported as a catalogue and am now in the process of importing it to my desktop. Transferring over 2000 RAW files is taking it's time! I'll let you know if it's successful.
