Touching up a canvas post printing?
      #685733 - 01/08/2008 18:45

Hi all

Not sure the best area for this post...

I had a print put on a 60x40cm canvas. Very pleased with the result but I stupidly left a small but distracting white rock in the middle of the foreground grass which is very noticable on the B&W canvas (didn't show up much when the print was in colour on my monitor!).

I've darkened it slightly with a soft pencil which helped but it's still irritating me and the pencil has made it a bit shiny.

Is there anything else I could dab on the canvas which would help or is it best to leave it be and live with it?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Vicki

If it's in black and white what about a black marker pen maybe through a tissue? It would be permanent and you could work up to whatever degree of cover you required.

You could try water colour but be careful as it might dissolve the print.

If you do any printing at home, chances are you've got an "empty" black cartridge lying around waiting for refilling/recycling/charity donation. These usually have at least a drop or two of ink left in them so it might be worth having a practise on the back side of the canvas frame to see if it's possible to get a suitable shade to hide the rock. Be careful though - a little ink can go a LONG way! Another option could be an old fashionned print spotting kit if they're still available.
