Hi all,
I have currently got the Konica Minolta 17-35 f2.8-4 and the Konica Minolta 28-75mm f2.8 as my wide to standard zoom length range.
I don't use the 17-35 very often, as I find the zoom length rather limited and always changing lenses, but I do think the 28-75 f2.8 is an excellent fast zoom lens. Probably my must used lens on the A700, and even the Dynax 7.
Have any of you purchased the CZ 16-80 lens and been throughly happy with it. Would you recommend it for my A700, and would the results be extra special.
I would really like to go for the lens, but its very expensive.
Many thanks Graham

I found the 28-70mm too restrictive on APC, it's probably just right on a FF. I now have the 16-80mm Zeiss and I'm very happy with it. Build is a bit plastic but less so than the 28-70mm - anyway seems plenty strong enough. It's certainly very sharp with descent colours and is also very fast to focus on my a700 and would recommend it.

Are you looking for a one lens solution, or would you be happy with two lenses? The Tamron 17-50/2.8 gives a bit more length than your 17-35 plus is constant f2.8;
For an alternative one lens solution with a more attractive price then the Sigma 17-70/2.8-4.5 may be worth considering.
There is also a Sony 16-105, a bit cheaper than the Zeiss but a bit slower, but I don't see it listed by any UK dealers as yet.

I invested in the CZ 16-80 and I am totally satisfied with it.It is expensive but the results from it in my opinion are unequalled. Regards - Denis

For what its worth, I find my Sigma 10-20 to be the perfect match for the 28-75 - although I know what you mean about the 28 not being wide enough, and always changing lenses.
I find the 28-75 to be perfect focal length on my film Dynax 7 though.
