All right, I give up!!! Everybody I speak to either on-line or off. says that what you need to extend your subject range is a used Minolta AF 50mm f1.7. There are loads of them about! I picked one up on e-bay for 25 quid, they say! Well I can't find any, I have spent hours combing ever site that I can find (including e*****bay) and I have not seen 'hide nor hair' of one. If anybody has one that they were thinking of putting on e-bay for 25 quid (or even a bit more) please, please e-mail me. Desperation is beginning to set in!
Thanks for listening, [trewern@tiscali.co.uk]

I found mine about two years ago (before the Sony Alpha had really taken off) in Milton Keynes market mounted on a non-working 7000, so I thought I was in luck. No way, the vendor scrubbed the battery contacts a little, and got the 7000 working, so I had to pay £70 for the pair. Over the years I've bought several body+lens combos to get my hands on a particularly well-thought of lens.

I've just done a search on eBay.
Search string: minolta af (f1.7, 1.7)
There are 5 in UK and 44 worldwide. Average price paid over the last few months was about £65.00.
