Hi all
I've just won a Canon EOS 450D with EF-S 18-55mm IS & EF-S 55-250mm IS. Only a couple of weeks ago I bought an Olympus E510 with twin lense kit Zuiko 14-42 & 40-150 after considering quite a number of alternatives.
I am new to SLR's and am on a steep learning curve. If I had the budget at the time I may well have bought the 450D or indeed the E520. Now I have to decide whether to sell the brand new Canon or the slightly used Olympus. A great problem to have I know! Can anyone offer some advise to help me make up my mind?
Many thanks

Use both for a short while and decide which one handles the best. I doubt you'd loose much in value if you use the 450D for a few weeks.
Also depending on the retailer you bought the olympus from you might be able to return it (might).

Something must have driven you to get the Olympus first, or did you not look at the Canon option.
If you looked at the Canon before deciding on the Olympus, then I would sell and buy some glass for the Olympus.
if that makes sense.

Thanks for the replies!
I went for the Olympus in the first place because of it's price and excellent reviews. I did look at the Canon however it was just outside my budget.
Is the extra couple of megapixels really worth the difference in price?

Which camera do you prefer? Regardless of price. Keep that one, sell the other.

I suppose it may depend on what sort of pictures you want to take and how big you are going to print them.
My 2 bodies are 6mp and 12.2 mp but for the size prints I do both are just as good as each other......

Keep them both for a week or two, take a lot of pictures and then keep the one you feel most comfortable with.
You are in fact one of the very few people who will be able to answer that question "are the extra 2M pixels worth it?" and I look forward to hearing your answer.

I was researching which camera to get and one of the sites I came across had a link to the travel channel's monthly competition for the EOS 450 + the Selphy ES2 printer.
Never won anything before

Thanks guys for all the advise.
One of the things that put me off the Canon EOS 450D was that it's zoom lense only went to 250mm whereas that Olympus E510 goes the 150 on it's 4/3rds lense which equates to 300mmm on a 35mm.
I decided to take a peak at the Canon EOS450D with the 250mm lense and compared what I saw through the viewfinder with the Olympus. The Canon zoomed closer than the Olympus and by quite a bit. I am leaning toward keeping the Canon. Can anyone explain the zoom anomoly?
Thanks again

A 250mm lens on a Caon 450D equates to a 400mm due to the 1.6 mag factor

No you are probably unique. The advice to use both before ditching one is sound. Also consider the final size of print and also your future photographic ambitions. On this topic I am neutral; I use Nikon and clearly we are not even in the running.

Hopefully my last query on this.
Does anyone know where I can line up the features/specs of the 2 cameras Canon Eos450D and Olympus E510 side by side - just to ensure I'm not missing anything I might regret in future?
Tried googling and searching forum but have drawn a blank.
Many thanks 2 u all again!!

I'd guess...
Open up two browser windows, one next to the other and open up the spec list from the canon/olympus websites.

Yes, and for consistent presentation of features I'd suggest dpreview.com. JH
