Hi, If anyone can shine any light on this, I would be very happy. I've just got an Epson R2880 but I guess this question could apply to any other Epson printers. By mistake when I set the paper setting to normal printing paper setting, not gloss photo paper.
Well, the paper just stayed in place and nothing happened. Now it will not print at all. Everytime I set everything up..it makes the usual noise but does not pull the paper down to start printing. Also it just drinks ink in the process. It's drunk about half the ink tonight. But never pulls the paper down. It won't do any nossle test prints or anything.
I am not buzing off this. Before I set the driver wrong it was working fine.
Help!!
Thanks.

Have you tried uninstalling the printer/drivers/software completely and then reinstalling?

Thanks for the answer.
Yeah I've tried all that. I've tried everything I can think of!
But it's just the same. Makes lots of wiring noises, but never picks the paper up and then wastes loads more ink for some strange reason.
I can do a test print without the computer being plugged in and it still doesn't want to know.

I don't suppose a sheet of paper has got jammed inside the printer?

Yeah it's brand new. I got it through the internet though. So it would mean sending back. They check it and then take it from there.
If I can sort it, at this end. It would be nice!

I found this on a review site here don't know if it helps... you might be using the single sheet fine art feed slot (follow link to see photos). Quote:
The straight path front paper path is slightly misleading, I thought I could use it for my expensive Fine Art media, Not so. This path is for board media, up to 1.3mm thick. When activated the print head moves to a higher position to allow for the extra thickness. If you use normal Photo media then the nozzles will be in the wrong position thereby producing slightly blurry looking prints.
For Fine Art and other specialty media you must use the single sheet Manual rear holder. This attaches to the rear of the printer and will accept one sheet at a time. I had a few problems with this as I couldn't get the printer to accept the media. However, reading through the HTML manual I discovered that you have to feed the media in until it meets a resistance and then apply a small amount of downward pressure for about 3 seconds until the printer pulls the media in. Not the most intuitive method of loading media.

Hi, Many thanks for that. I've not, but that has very much given me an idea to the problem (I think!). Some how the print head might be locked in the wrong position some how.

Silly question, but I don't suppose you have left any packaging in the paper feed slot, or something like that?

Not that I'm aware of! Like I say it was working fine for about 14 A4's.

Do what Nod says. I had a similar problem with an Epson 950. It just stopped feeding paper although it would eject a sheet when you turned it on. The problem was the large rubber wheel wouldn't pick up the paper. I took it to pieces and could make it work by pushing the wheel into place but with my hand in the way the ink carriage couldn't go up and down. By the way, these consumer printers are clipped together and just about impossible to repair. I ended up buying a new R800.

Why put up with it, send it back as 'unfit for purpose' and get a refund. Then you can buy another one from somewhere easier to contact, such as Park Cameras or Warehouse Express. At least they have shops where you can go if you have a problem again.
