Help choosing development process
      #682477 - 24/07/2008 10:35

Hi all, I've only recently got really into photography, and have myself a 35mm SLR, i've been experiementing quite a bit and trying lots of different settings, I have a few rolls that I want to get developed.

However at the moment i'm looking for a cheap developer, I saw that Asda develop film at £2.50, I was wondering what the quality will be like (obviously not amazing as the price indicates)? Was thinking as I have only started its probably fine to get them printed at Asda.

What do people think?

Before entrusting them with a precious roll, I would be tempted to shoot a 24 exposure roll as a test. I would suggest that you include shots to test their colour rendition (some colourful clothes?) and some shots of people to see how well their skin tones turn out. When you get the negs back, have a good look at them to see if they've been scratched or have any residues left on them.

Good luck.

Buy yourself some kit on Ebay and develop them yourself, it's easy and entertaining.

Nothing in photography beats the thrill of inspecting a newly developed film straight out of the tank.
