A new version of the wide format LX series - this one has 24-60mm equivalent lens, f/2-f/2.8 max aperture, a hotshoe for a dedicated optical vf (or external flash, of course), and perhaps most significantly of all, unlike previous generations this one is still a 10MP camera and the wide-angle is still an equivalent 24mm in any of the 16:9, 3:2, or 4:3 aspect ratios. The long end of the zoom is more limited than we're used to in a compact these days, and I would guess that that is what has allowed Leica to make it an f/2-f/2.8. The LX1 and LX2 both came in for criticism in the noise department, so I imagine that extra stop or so over what is more commonly found today will help considerably in low light.
At any rate it's definitely got me interested! :-)

Yes, I thought it looked interesting. Would've liked to see a built in optical finder, but still...
Looking forward to Angela's team getting their hands on one!

Yup.
I've recently bought the LX2 but I'm not too disappointed that I bought before then new one came out as I've had the use of it, the price of the new one is over £100 more than I paid (but I expect that the street price will be lower) and I think it's a shame that the 16:9 ratio is no longer the full mp. Mine is set to the wide setting and it will remain so.
The controls on mine are a bit fiddly I think, but it is possible to set everything although I leave mine mostly in P and let it get on with it.

Yes, with the larger sensor images should be very usable...
With regards the limited zoom. On my Samsung NV24 (24-85), I only use the zoom in movie mode - strange but true

The accessory finder looks very cool. The whole thing looks very cool. A bit pricey though.

Yes, it does look quite nice, although TBH I thought we got rid of those in the 70s/80s.
Anyway, FWIW I continue to be very interested in the LX3, and might yet end up with one, but for the moment micro Four Thirds is taking rather more of my attention and anticipation. Hopefully within the next few weeks I'll know whether I can take that one of the list or if I have to start saving. :-)
