Hi All I have 16-45 and 80-320 lenses i was thinking of filling the gap between the two but now i have decided to ditch the 80-320 and go for something else. I am thinking of getting the 55-300 instead. Your views on this lens or any other within the range would be most helpful.
Thanks

I've heard good things about the 55-300mm.

You will still have a gap between 45 and 55 and a shorter reach than the 80-320. Why not go for the 17-70 to bridge the gap in the most useful region. The Sigma is a fine lens in this range. The 70-80 gsp is probably less important.

Hi Richard,
I have seen some really good results from the DA 55-300 on some other (to remain nameless) forums and I have sold a few and have yet to hear any negative feedback
So I would say; go for it
Cheers,
Jack

Having a gap is not really an issue if the photographer is preapred to move...whatever did those 1950s photographers do when they had a 35mm, 50mm and 135mm only and all those gaps in between?

Except on the edge of a cliff, or near a railway line or a busy road, then we just gave up and did the best we could. It was not really the easiest of times.

I've decided to buy the 55-300. The 80-320 is now for sale on E-Bay. Not too sure about the sale price though.

Ordered th 55-300 thursday lunchtime from SRS arrived friday morning, now that's what i call excellent service. I'm selling the 80-320 on E-Bay for £100 or best offer would that be a fair price.
