Hello,
I'm a newbie looking for some advice...
I'm rather fed-up with my Olympus C-370, a camera I bought 3 years ago. The digital delay is unbearable, I'm often left with blurred photos as it has no image stabilisation, and the low-light performance is seemingly non-existant!!
I'm therefore looking to buy a new camera in the next couple of months.
I'm looking for something that:
1) Is reliable 2) Fits in my pocket 3) Costs about 70 or 80 pounds 4) Has at least 3x optical zoom 5) Doesn't have any of the problems my old Olympus has (i.e. has image stabilisation, good low light performance and no digital delay).
I have been flicking through argos and amazon etc. but it's hard just looking at the pictures and reading the manafacturers' blurb to know what is good and what just purports to be.
Thank you very much for your time. I know you must get loads of requests like this.

Hi Rob and welcome
This is a good digital camera review site. It also has a feature select and compare facility.
I'm sorry to say that I don't think your requirements can be met with that budget. Good luck though.

I doubt that you will get a camera with image stabilisation for £70-80. Why not have a look at the Canon Powershot A590is, available for around £115, 4x zoom. My experience with Canon compacts suggest that this could be ideal for you.

Thanks, which particular features are making my request unrealistic at that price?
I have, for example, been looking at the Kodak C613 on Amazon. That looked like it might suit; which of my list doesn't apply to this camera do you think?
Thanks.

I've not used many compacts so can't give specific recommendations. I have used a Canon A series (good) and Canon G9 (excellent). Not as compact as some though. It's generally accepted that small compacts are not good in low light situations. They have difficulty auto focussing and the amount of amplification needed with such small sensors creates lots of digital 'noise'.
Take a look at the site I pointed you to and use their feature search and compare (click here) You will get a feel for the models that will suit your needs.

To the best of my knowledge it does not have image stabilisation, low-light perfromance is not that good, and there is some lag when pressing the shutter button. Off the top of my head, I would agree with the Canon recommended above
