Not sure if they are called hover flies but its what ive always called em. Just started out in photography with my resent buy of a nikon d50 & 18-135mm lense. These are my first close up shots ive done, and am now saving for a propper macro lense.

Nice work, love the one in flight… First 2 also work well as they have relatively clean backgrounds

Nice work indeed...2nd and 3rd ones for me. I think it's a Marmalade hoverfly - Episyrphus balteatus.
