Whenever this updates I always have problems.
The recent update to 5.1 has completely stopped working now! Trouble is, whenever you open DxO it says when an update is available and the only way to get rid of the annoying notification is to update it. I'm running Vista and update using he download manager website (automatic update always fails). But even this doesn't work.
I'm going to give up on DxO completely

DXO (pronounced Duckso) is Cillit Bang's answer for anyone who wants a single product that will clean all their ducks**.

Can't you turn off the automatic check for update? (Tools->General->Automatically check for updates)

Found it! Was under edit->preferences
So, it's turned off.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

David, If you shoot in RAW, this program is quite useful. Basically the best I can describe it (but probably won't help you) is a cross between Adobe Camera Raw and Canon's DPP software (but it doesn't replace either)
You best bet is to look at their website

The worst thing is, I even loaded up DxO to check where they hid the option and still managed to type it incorrectly! If you have the PC version, I think v5.1.0 build 6184 is the latest.

DxO comes with modules for individual camera and individual lenses. These modules are individually calibrated to the characteristics of the camera/lens combination. So, if your camera has a tendancy to purple fringing and softness and your lens tends to vignette and exhibit barrel distortion DxO will correct these in a single pass applying just the right amount of adjustment to each. The great thing is that you can set it to process an unlimited batch and leave it to get on with the task by itself to completely automate your workflow.
Belive me, if you have say a thousand files to process you'll never want to be without DxO.

I had the v4 trial and really liked it, but having a 5D the cost for the "Pro" version is just too much :-(

At last I've managed to update it and all appears to be working smoothly. I went through the DxO support helpdesk who talked me through it (via email).
I had to manually uninstall the old version and a few .dll files. They also sent me a different set-up download link which seemed much quicker. It all took a few days as I think the helpdesk is located the other side of the World looking at the times the replies were sent.
Anyway, I'm glad I was patient as I do find this software being some of the best.

Did you get the free filmpack licence as well?

I had the free film pack anyway. My mum got me DxO for Christmas (she gave me her credit card and I did the rest) and it was included as part of the deal then. I must admit, the Tri-X emulator is the closest to real thing I've seen
