ISO 400 Colour Neg
      #670183 - 23/06/2008 19:48

What ISO colour neg film do you recommend for 120? For mono I know what I want to use, but as I have hardly ever shot 400 apart from reversal, I don't really know where to start. Fuji Pro 400H is both a) Fuji (whose films I generally love), and b) 400, but is it what I want? I really don't know.

Any picks?

Sorry, I should add:

I want natural to slightly saturated colours (think Reala, not Velvia) and a nice bit of lattitude.

I'm a Kodak man when it comes to colour negative films. IMHO Portra cannot be beaten for skin tones. Choose NC for low saturation, VC for a bit more va-va-voom (though thankfully that doesn't mean Velvia levels). Both have great latitude.

Depends on what you're taking pix of ... but most MF cameras lack ultrafast shutter speeds, so if you're shooting outside on a bright day you may need ND filters if you're not using ISO 100 film.

I've always used Fuji NPH400 when I've wanted a 400ASA film for medium format. Produces nice skin tones. click for reviews.

I'll be shooting mainly street scenes (urban really, not people) and land/sea-scapes. I've seen some cracking results from the Fuji 400H, but I don't really know the alternatives.

At the mo it'll be shot with either Holga or pinhole, hence the desire for lattitude (the 1/100th shutter speed is fixed on the Holga, and pinhole is always a bit of a guesstimate).

I've shot 160ISO film on a Holga and had decent results this time of year.
