I have been looking on the web for places to send my camera for sensor cleaning! Does anyone have any recommendations please? I can't put up with the dust spots any longer. Many thanks in anticipation.

You dont say which Camera you have, but I use this for my Dynax 7d and Sony A700.

I need to clean mine but I'm going to have a go myself. I've been looking at these Green Clean Anyone used them?

Thanks for that. It looks like the same 'Wet&Dry' system but with the added vacuum. I think I'll order the 'Wet&Dry' from 7Day and see how I get on with that. Mind you, they are now waiting for stock!

Hae you tried giving it a good few blasts with a rocket blower ye? I find that nine times out of ten that does the job.

Yes Phil. I have blown it, Arctic Butterflied it, used Eclipse fluid and special wipes on it but to be honest I am scared to death touching the sensor! Hands shaking etc (and no its not the drink!). I don't seem to be able to shift the little ******s. I have read on the web that it often takes several goes to shift the stuff but I am basically "chicken". I would rather pay and know that my 5D is in safe and competent hands. I would hate to wreck it. So I was just checking where it was safe to send it.

I know places in London and Manchester that do sensor cleaning, but nowhere in Scotland.
Have you tried google?

Sensor cleaned and all seems ok  I had to have two attempts before it was totally clean. After the first clean it looked spotless. However, I took a couple of shots using the smallest aperture and the longest focal length (I believe that's how you check for dust spots) and found two very dark spots remaining. I tried a different lens, just to be sure, and they were still there. A second clean, with a little more pressure added, was called for and another couple of test shots showed the remaining dark spots had gone
I didn't find the process particularly daunting or difficult but if it was a 5D for example then my hands may have been shaking a little more! I wouldn't have any hesitation if/when the need arises again.

This is a daft question I know BUT its the "little more pressure" bit that I may have wrong. I don't know if I am doing enough because I seem to make little impression on my dust b*****s. Does the bendy plastic thing with the wipe on it get pressed til it bends or not??

I didn't apply pressure to the extent that the little bendy plastic thing bent. The first clean I was a little worried that I may scratch the glass(?) surface as I dragged the 'specks' across it. The second clean I wasn't as concerned and applied more pressure. During the second clean I also let the cleaning fluid 'soak' for about 20-30 seconds to soak into the specks. I then again wiped over the surface a few more times with the wet wipe before using the dry wipe to remove the moisture.
Are you using the same 'Green Clean' as I used (link above)?

I'm glad you've got it sorted.
As I'm as poor as a church mouse I use a Pec Pad formed around a slice cut from an old credit card and held in place with a slither cut from a label. I put one or two drops of Eclipse fluid on the very end of the "tool," wait a few seconds and then carry out the clean.
A blast or two from a Rocket is worth trying before carrying out a wet clean.

Thanks, Alan. As you are someone who is very 'keen' to keep their sensor free from dust I'd imagine it would work out very expensive for you, so having a 'home made' device is a logical step

Thank you Paul. I have got Eclipse fluid and Pec Pads and I read loads on the web from an American site that has masses of info on using this method-it has pictures as well and I have printed them out. I will pluck up the courage to have another go-sounds of bullets being bitten - YIKES! It seems to have worked well for you

Just out of interest, and I noted Alan uses Pec Pads also, but according to the EOS Magazine site it says you are not supposed to use Pec Pads for sensor cleaning. There may be different types of course but I thought I would mention it. See the link below (scroll down until you come to the Pec Pads).
