Compact with RAW?
      #659876 - 27/05/2008 16:02

Hello,

I've been looking for a decent compact with RAW and someone recommended the Panasonic DMC-LX2. I went to the Panasonic UK website to look at the spec but it doesn't seem to be listed.

So, has this camera been discontinued and if so do Panasonic do an updated version with RAW? I can't see one on their website.

Thanks.

I believe it has been discontinued, though don't quote me. I was quite interested in it myself for a while. AFAIK there's no third generation version of it, or at least not yet.

Thanks.

Googling gets me to a few suppliers saying that they have new ones in stock so I'll give it some thought.

Just for the record, a lot of the Canon Powershots can have the RAW feature added plus other functions. Further info here

"CHDK is not just one thing! The term CHDK refers to software – currently available free for many (but not all) Canon PowerShot compact digital cameras – that you can load onto your camera's memory card to give you camera greatly enhanced capabilities."

Well, that's very interesting. I've copied that link for future use. Thanks.

Well it came today and I've been using the 16-9 mode and RAW. There's a little too much noise and the DOF is a little much too but all in all I'm pretty impressed.

The LX3 is out now and I've just ordered one. Hope it is as good as they say.
