Anyone who is in Richmond this Sunday, any time between early morning and late afternoon (last race 4.57pm), with their camera might find a visit worth while. Full details are at: - http://www.twickenham-regatta.org/spectators.htm
Refreshments include Real Ale, a Pimms bar and sandwiches in a very pleasant spectator area, Buccleuch Gardens, half a mile upstream from Richmond Bridge on the Surrey side of the Thames. There is public access (towpath) all along the 1250 metre course. Live music (jazz) 1.30-3.30pm. One of the umpiring launches is the last surviving steam launch used at Henley Regatta 100 years ago and now beautifully restored.
Crews are quite close to the bank so specialist equipment isn't needed. This is a great opportunity for action and people photography, quite apart from the Real Ale and Pimms.
