Last year I bought my 1st digital SLR camera (Canon EOS 400D) so Im looking to brush up on my skills and learn a little more that what Ive tought myself and read in the books!

Hope everyone is well, feel free to say Hi.

Welcome Rob. I'm doing the Diploma in Digital Photography but you'll find that we all wander across all the different forums!

Good luck with the course. Look forward to seeing your shots from time to time.

Regards

You'll find us to be a nice friendly and helpful bunch here. If you check the forum Graham (Northerner) has set up a small webpage which has links for everyones submissions so far. http://www.nicandgraham.com/AP.html

I look forward to seeing some of your images.

Hello all,

I have just received all my starting pack today and logged on here to say hello. Unfortunately, it wouldn't allow me to start a new post, so I am pggy backing! :-)

I am looking forward to working through the modules and I have seen some of your work and the shots are amazing!

I have a question if anyone could help me: Module 1 is about framing, cropping and previsualising the crop. I thought there might be some exercises etc about aperture, exposure and shutting speeds to even get to this point, or should I be taking in auto (nope not!)?

I am a real noob and was hoping for some step by step stuff before this, what are your thoughts or tips that could steer me in the right direction?

Thanks,

--------------------
Alan

Hiya, you don't have to work in auto if you'd prefer not but the first module is concentrated on composition and we'd like you to concentrate on that too. It's easy to forget how important that frame is, how effective it can be and you don't need to be a technical whizz to get a lot out of thinking about it - photography starts by looking and the technical stuff can come later. So just enjoy yourself, the aperture and shutter speed exercises will be long soon enough,

Garry

Hi Garry,

Thanks for your message, it is very reassuring! I was getting worried that I was not advanced enough for even module 1!!!

Hope you dont mind me joining you but I'm another new starter. Got the pack on Thursday, had a quick look through. Bit worried I might have bitten off more than I can chew!! Not too sure how the self assesment will work - rubbish at putting things into words.
Anyway Hello everyone Look forward to getting to know you all better
Christine

Hello Christine,

Welcome to the course. Don't feel too apprehensive about the course, feel free to post on the forum and I'm sure that someone will help you out if you get stuck.

As I suggested to others PM Elliot Smith to gain full access rights to this part of the forum.

Good luck.

Gary
