For those who cannot aspire to the dizzy heights of the D3 do not despair. The old D200 ain't bad. Personally I don't photograph flowers so I don't need silly four and five figure ISO rating, in fifty odd years of snapping 125 ISO has always been enough for me, and I specialise in available hand held interior piccies.
This is the D200 at 640 ISO and at A3 it exhibits far, far less noise then HP5 could ever have done.

100% crop

D200 in b/w mode all other settings at default/auto except ISO. No processing other than resizing for net. In fact in an A3 print I cannot discern anything more then the sort of slight grain that Pan F properly exposed and developed could exhibit. Actually I think I'm being generous to Pan F.
Sorry about the same old subject......I really do need to get out more.
This was taken with the 50 1.4 the " Boka", is that the term? Well the out of focus bits are wonderful, sort of buttery hint of texture. A round of applause perhaps for the Epson 2400 printer, the tonal gradation is very good.
So if unlike me somebody knew what they were doing think of the wonderful piccie of "Wesson" Who incidentally apologises.....he was having a " Bad Ear day"
So my opinion is; they can't make cameras better so the next step? Make the wretched things smaller.
