Dear all DXO users. I am currently downloading the install pack for 4.51 to move the licence from my old and tired laptop over to my nice new and shiny quad core Dell.
While looking at the DXO site, which seems to lack many features of a good website, I couldn't find for the life of me how I can upgrade to version 5. Have also heard that version 5 has been unstable. Anyone out there got any experience of version 5 pro on an intel quad core, windows xp box ?
Also, any idea of how I upgrade ?
Thanks
James

Dxo Is certainly an interesting collection of program features. However it does nothing quite the best that it can be done, but is perhaps the most expensive way to solve the problem areas it tackles. PTLens makes a more accurate job of correcting for lens distortion. Photoshop does a better job of correcting for CA and fringing. Ps. also does a simpler and totally accurate job of correcting perspective distortion. What DXO does is bring these and other corrections into a single program in a fairly easy to use way.
If you own photoshop all theses features are available as fully integrated plug ins, each at a very small additional cost. with the advantage that you only have to open your image once.

I run it on hyperthreading dual xeon system with Windows XP with no issues, so I'd imagine that a quad-core system will behave in a similar manner. There are a number of issues (mostly just annoyances, rather than critical failings now) with the current version of 5.0.4 (there is a list on the DxO forums) however it seems much more stable than previous v5 releases, and hasn't died on me yet.
I would say, as a relatively happy user, if you need a feature that v5 offers, get it. If you don't, stick with 4.5 and wait for 5.1 which will definitely be worth it.

Go to the DxO online store, login, click on the big shiny 'Click here to upgrade' button and it will be listed as an option somewhere...

You reckon? I would disagree with that.
