The folk over on the LUG are getting worked up about rumours of a digital Leica SLR, possibly to be shown at this year's Photokina. Even to the extent of wondering if it will have a full, or even larger-than-full-frame sensor. They also speculate about what it might be called, and R10, SL10, etc...
Twas ever thus in the Leica world.

Indeed. The idea does have some interest for me, but as ever, we'll have to see how stuff pans out.
The prospect of which SLR system to go for is a problematic one (I don't currently have one at all) if I should decide to jump. Lens choice is the deciding factor - and for me that means fast wide angles, where Canon are king IMHO (24mm/1.4, 35mm/1.4, 50mm/1.2 or 1.4, plus 85mm/1.2 or 1.8). Nikon had some excellent options in the past, but the, by all accounts, superb 28mm/1.4 is hors de combat (and goes for silly money on eBay). Waiting to see whether they will resurrect it with a Silent Wave motor is the plan at present, which also gives time for any Canon 5D replacement (and any putative full frame Leica "R10D") to surface.
