Flash attack
      #652143 - 06/05/2008 18:49

Evening all. What's the best way (if possible) to remove 'flash light' from a picture. The shot was taken by a friend at her mothers b'day party and unfortunately, no one noticed the 'MIRROR' hanging on the wall behind the group being photographed POW! One reflective flash shot!

I've scanned the 6x4 print (the film is APS so I can't scan that) and I got quite a good image. The background is unimportant so I guess I could cut it out completely but the flash is in her hair, hat everywhere! Help

All the best.
Scott.

Film? APS? What are they?

Sorry Scott, but I've never heard of anything to 'remove' this phenomenon.

Unfortunately once detail has been lost, it has been lost. there is no recovering detail that has been burnt out. Just goes to show that you should look before taking a photograph.

What about cloning in a picture of flying pigs. No-one will notice.

If you can't find the control, could I respectfully suggest a couple of layers of black electrical tape stuck over the flash window before the shot is taken?

As others have said, it isn't easy to repair once the damage is done.

What the others have said is correct, but if you posted a (small version) of the pic here you might get some more constructive replies.

Hi Bawbee.
APS or ‘Advanced Photo System’ was a film format introduced (I think)by Eastman Kodak think the brand name was ‘Advantix.’ Didn’t really catch on, some said the image area was too small (and now we have digital sensors even smaller?) even though it had a few tech goodies to offer. It came in 3 formats-----H= High definition (30.2 x 16.7mm) C= Classic (25.1 x 16.7) P= Panoramic (30.2 x 9.5).

Hi Burgy. Yeah, I guessed as much, just thought that maybe someone had come across the same scenario and found and easy way out as no matter what I do I know do there’s going to be some bits missing. Think she’ll look next time before she presses the shutter button

Bettina Hi. Neat idea Think I’ll give it ago

Thanks guys.
Scott.

Scott, I think you'll find BawBee was making a joker along the lines of not knowing what film was in this digital age.

We should seperate. With scotland wales and cornwall...

We can then all point at the third world countries surrounding us!!!

(and apparently cornwall has no power stations, so we can sell em electricity at ridiculous rates!

What makes you think that the North of England wants to hang around with the South? Hack off the home counties I say and kick 'em off over to France.

They have wind farms though. And, as the whole county shuts for the night at 6pm, a few wind generators is perfectly adequate for them.
