Rawtherapee 2.2 ----- your thoughts and advice welcome
      #651315 - 03/05/2008 12:36

Hi all. Anyone using the above mentioned package? I don't have much experience with it so any help, advice, tips, thoughts are very welcome. I was thinking of buying Elemets 6 then I downloaded RT a few weeks ago and so far I'm impressed though sometimes I’m a little confused as to what it will and will not open.

I have Tiff files that adobe, gimp, windows will open yet RT will not?

All the best.
Scott.

Tiff files aren't RAW files. Although there have been a couple of proprietary versions of tiffs rather confusingly that are.....

Hi Burgy. Yeah I know, but RT opens most files and I thought I'd give it a go on me raw files before splashing out on E6. I like it, though the manual is a little topsy turvey in some parts so I just suck it and see! Just a little confuesssssssed as to why it won't open Tiffs that the others do? What do you use for raw? Have you tried RT?
Cheers.
Scott.

I've played about with RT (2.3) a bit, but I didn't really get on with it. I like an integrated all in one RAW converter / image editor, and I found RT missing a few things, such as 90 degree image rotate. I think there's a new version of RT (2.4) due for release soon - check here .

I mostly use LightZone for straightforward conversions without much editing, and UFraw / GIMP for the more finicky stuff.

Thanks Alex. I just downloaded Lightzone so I'll give it a go. I really like RT but find it a little invlolved and the interface is not as easy as some.

Cheers
Scott.
