Scottish locations - recommendations please.
      #648970 - 28/04/2008 19:35

Can anyone suggest good locations. I have a visitor from South Africa here for three weeks who wants to shoot 'puffins' and architecture preferably derelict.

I have suggested some of the more usual subjects - Loch Lomond, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Glencoe for the touristy (if thats a word) shots and some local castles but does anyone have any other suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Kenny

If you manage to reach the East coast of Fife, here's the one for puffins - Isle of May Ferry from Anstruther

Yep agree with Bob re Isle of May.
Edinburgh-Fife Isle of May then West via Perth, Killin,Glencoe then south down the coast to Inverary. Then Loch Lomond, Glasgow and Arran. Job done.

Coquet Island just off the Northumberland coast is supposed to be good for puffins, or there's always Puffin Island just off Anglesey.

Aye, that's quite close to Scotland.

Aye, that's not so close.

Dunkeld is worth a look for the abbey, plus ospreys if he's interested in non-puffins.

Zou mentions Dunkeld, if you go there you must visit The Hermitage - (and most of the photographic locations are shown on this web-page).
