I have always resized and saved my files in jpeg using CS2 after RAW conversion in Lightroom.Recently i have realised the benefit of saving as a Png file as the quality seems so much better. I resize my pictures the same way i used to resize for jpeg, yet i now can not upload them to the web, even when the site i upload them to does allow for png images. So is there something i have to do differently to resize a png? Please help

Do you actually mean PNG or should that read PSD? As far as I am aware PNG is a special format with a reduced colour palette for use with internet websites, to the best of my knowledge it's unlikely to produce a better quality file than JPEG...
If you actually mean PSD then this is a proprietary Adobe format for the PhotoShop family of products and as such is not recognised by web applications...

Yeah,i do mean png. I had heard people say that saving images in png keeps the quality and it does seem to be true with the files when compared on my computer-but i'm no expert in these things. It might be easier for me to stick with jpeg anyway-i just thought i'd ask Thanks for your help.

Looks like I was confusing PNG too closely with GIF... Look here for more info on PNG.....

No-i think you are right. I've had a look into it and tried to see what the problem could be. My jpegs seemed flat and desaturated compared to the Png files and i think this has more to do with my colour settings. Thanks for your advise!:)

Do you work in AdobeRGB colour-space in CS2/Lightroom? If so images left in this colour space do tend to look dull and lifeless on the net. I had exactly this problem until I was advised to convert them to sRGB before putting them on the web. Go to Image>Mode>Convert to Profile... in CS2 and change to sRGB (actually sRGB:1961 IIRC - I'm not at home). I use black point compensation plus Perceptual as the rendering intent and this seems to do the best job on my images.
